  • Bombe Fits World Premiere

    Thursday, June 25, 2026 • 7:00 PM
Widener Hall at The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill

Be there for the first-ever performance of Bombe Fits.

Founded by soprano Katy Avery, Bombe Fits is a new Philadelphia-based musical collective exploring the space between a chamber music concert and a night out seeing your favorite band. Drawing on Philadelphia's vibrant community of composers and performers, the ensemble brings together voice, guitar, bass, percussion, and composer-performers in a collaborative concert experience that refuses easy categorization.

This debut performance features world premieres by Emma Cardon-Wake, Evan Monroe Chapman, John Conahan, Kevin Crouch, Tim Mukherjee, and Brendan Sweeney. Many of the composers will join the ensemble onstage to perform their own works, blurring the line between creator and performer and bringing audiences closer to the creative process.

The evening's music grapples with the defining questions, anxieties, and absurdities of contemporary life. From social media algorithms and robocallers to climate change, displacement, and identity, each work offers a unique perspective through a distinct musical language. Along the way, audiences will encounter influences from contemporary classical music, art song, experimental music, and even heavy metal.

Funny, provocative, moving, and occasionally loud, Bombe Fits invites listeners into a world where genres, artistic roles, and expectations are constantly shifting.

Join us for the ensemble's inaugural performance and experience these new works!

You may leave with a new favorite composer, a new favorite band, or a new idea of what a concert can be.
